UX / Optimising
Driver Testing Officers can put their clipboards and paper forms aside and review their schedule for the day ahead. The intuitive interface allows Driver Testing Officers to observe and record the behaviours of applicants during their assessment.
Applicants can have their test results emailed to them when the test is finished. This includes any areas of improvement and helpful tips for future driving.
Testing Officers reviewed paper designs of the tablet application first, then prototype applications in simulated driving tests.
When designing and developing this application, safety of the Testing Officers was paramount, as was keeping applicants’ distractions to a minimum. Extensive user testing was done in the field to ensure this requirement was met.
Thorough user testing ensured that the final application would be easy to use in live driving tests.
Test results are captured in the VTNZ system and then emailed to the applicant at the end of their test. The result is also submitted to NZ Transport Agency, who hold the permanent records for licensing.
Emailing the test results to the applicant offers an improved customer experience. The benefits include; providing applicants with a permanent, digital record of their test outcome, more legible and detailed feedback and helpful advice specific to the areas where the applicant can improve their driving.
All tablets are password protected and encrypted to ensure the security of personal data, as well as any business data held.
The desktop application has been designed to assist with day to day operations of the Branch. Branch Managers can access the daily schedules of individual Testing Officers and view relevant details of test outcomes.
Replacing a paper based system means that customer-facing staff can view real time updates and results. They can access submitted tests and are provided more clarity around scheduling of customers, improving the overall customer experience.
